Julie initiated Tortoiseshell Interiors 22 years ago after relocating from Atlanta to Orlando. After a career in marketing for Coca-Cola, USA and a background in business, art and design, she followed her heart into interior design. Both her parents painted as a hobby so Julie picked up the brush at an early age and has painted her whole life. She also would design and make her own clothes which she learned from her grandmother.
Julie’s passion is also fueled by extensive international travel to discover unique ways of life, architecture, tiles, textiles and design. While she can work within many styles, her favorite combination is mixing some of the old world patina with the clean lines of modern. She has a deep respect for trim masons who work with their hands and their hearts. She loves adding layers of custom millwork throughout her projects. Julie strives for a collected, yet soulful interior. Looking for that unusual piece of “treasure” at antique markets is something she can’t resist.
“I’m a sucker for all things bamboo, wicker, rattan and rope. These materials are timeless and work within any style.”
Julie is excited about every project she engages in and she likes to work closely with her clients to compose a thoughtful, refined vision to bring out the best in their homes. Julie has maintained close client relationships and has worked on numerous projects for quite a few over the years. While most of her work has been around the “chain of lakes” in Windermere, FL, she has worked on a beach house in DE, a lake house in NC., a farmhouse estate in WV and a ski home in MT.
In essence, Julie can navigate you from design concept to completed construction … or simply reimagine and refresh. It’s important to her to increase the value of your property while fulfilling your dreams.
